Switching Websites and Knowledge After a Query

After a short public query on Search, All / Websites / Knowledge change the count and the row type. I clicked them. Filters opens Category. I did not invent a panel.

The tabs after a query are how you narrow what already came back.

Wednesday, September 2, 2026, about 10 PM MT. I opened search.oernoe.com as a guest. I did not click Sign in. Header: Skip to content, Oernoe Search, Sign in. Hero: A little curiosity. A world to find. Search websites, people, and ideas. The box. Try a search chips. I typed a short public query: Oernoe. I submitted it. The bar went to search.oernoe.com/results?q=Oernoe. Tab title: Search Results - Oernoe Search. I stayed a guest.

This page is on www.oernoe.com. Selected finished pages may show Google ads. An ad that says Knowledge is not the Knowledge tab. A unit that says Filter is not Filters. Read the Search bar if you meant to switch result types.

## Run the short public query first. Then look at the toolbar.

The home page already prints the lesson in Search tips: Narrow your results. Switch between Websites and Knowledge, or choose a category. I am not teaching from that sentence alone. The older post stopped at the copy. Tonight I ran the query, then I clicked the tabs, then I opened Filters.

Right after submit, the toolbar was already there: a nav labeled Result type, three buttons, All, Websites, Knowledge. All had aria-current="page". Filters sat next to Sort results. Sort was a select: Relevance, A to Z. The heading said Results for Oernoe. The live line under it still said Searching the Oernoe index... That spinner is not an empty state. It is not Search-down. Wait. I have written that spinner elsewhere. Mention only: do not close the tab because the first paint is a spinner.

When the index answered on All, the summary said 17 results in the Oernoe index. The primary column painted website rows and at least one knowledge row mixed in. Website rows looked like this: a host, a title that opened in a new tab, a snippet. The first website row was oernoe.com / Oernoe / Official Oernoe homepage. Other website rows on that list included admin.oernoe.com titled Oernoe Admin, flix.oernoe.com, mail.oernoe.com, music.oernoe.com, collective.oernoe.com, search.oernoe.com, studio.oernoe.com, and a creators.spotify.com episode title. I am naming what the list printed. I am not sending you to admin. I am not opening Mail, Music, or Studio as live products. Pagination under the list: Previous disabled, Page 1 of 2, Next.

On the right, an aside labeled Knowledge and related searches. Inside it, a knowledge-panel labeled About Oernoe. Heading Oernoe, line company, a description that starts Oernoe is a company and Oernoe is a user-control service company..., then a fact list: Founded February 20, 2023; founder Angel Mejia Rodriguez; Headquarters Caldwell, Idaho; Employees 3; parent company Anoepal; owner Anoepal Holding; subsidiaries OerSocial, OerTube. A control: More details (2). I saw that control. I did not click it. I will not invent the two extra fields. Related searches listed Angel Mejia Rodriguez, Anoepal Holding Corp, Anzleigh Dammon, Jet Turcotte. There was an empty search-ad-slot in that aside. I did not invent a second panel.

Above the list on All, a section titled AI Overview, subline A summary of these results, with links to the sources, and a button Generate overview. I did not press Generate overview. I will not invent a summary.

That is All. Mixed list. Count 17. Sidebar panel present. Now the job: switch.

## Websites is a type filter, not a new query.

I clicked Websites. The click did something visible. The bar became search.oernoe.com/results?q=Oernoe&type=websites. The word Oernoe stayed. type=websites appeared. Websites took aria-current="page". All lost it. The summary changed to 12 results in the Oernoe index. The list became website rows: host, title link, snippet. The knowledge row that had sat in the All list as Oernoe Knowledge / company was not in that primary list anymore. Pagination still said Page 1 of 2.

The sidebar panel did not vanish. About Oernoe was still there with the same fact list and More details (2). Switching to Websites did not delete knowledge from the page. It changed the primary list and the count and the type= in the bar. If you expected the right column to go blank, say that in a ticket. Do not say Search-down. I watched the column stay.

Website rows are outbound links with rel noopener. They are not Account. They are not this journal. Do not paste a password into a result. Do not treat Oernoe Admin in the list as a door you owe a login. Guest Search already showed you the title. That is enough.

If the chair is not yours, a short public query is the whole job. You may still click Websites. You may not Sign in. You may not Generate overview if you do not want a summary talking in a library. Close the tab when you leave.

## Knowledge is a different result type. It is not a magic panel I invented.

I clicked Knowledge. The click did something visible. The bar became search.oernoe.com/results?q=Oernoe&type=knowledge. Knowledge took aria-current="page". The summary said 5 results in the Oernoe index.

The primary list changed kind. Each row was labeled Oernoe Knowledge, then a small type, then a name, then a description. Tonight the five were: company / Oernoe; person / Angel Mejia Rodriguez / Founder of Oernoe and owner of Anoepal Holding Corp.; company / Anoepal Holding Corp / a holding description that names Oernoe among other names; person / Anzleigh Dammon / Anzleigh Dammon is the CEO of Oernoe and Palbing.; person / Jet Turcotte / CTO copy. Those titles are buttons in the list, not the same outbound the website rows used. I did not hunt people as a product. I am telling you what the Knowledge tab listed for the public query I already ran.

The sidebar About Oernoe panel was still there on Knowledge. Same facts. Same More details (2), still unclicked. Knowledge tab is not "the panel appeared." The panel was already on All and on Websites. The tab is the list of five knowledge rows and the count of 5.

I did not get an empty state on Knowledge for Oernoe. If you run a different short public query and Knowledge prints nothing, read the empty copy on that page and ticket that copy. Do not invent a Wikipedia layout I did not see. Do not paste the missing person into AI and ask it to fill the panel.

Do not use Knowledge as a people-finder. The home chrome says websites, people, and ideas. That is marketing over a box. Type a short public query. Switch the tab if you want that type. Do not hunt a classmate.

## Filters is where the category actually is.

Search tips said choose a category. The category was not a fourth tab. It was inside Filters. Filters started aria-expanded="false". I clicked Filters. The click did something visible. aria-expanded became true. A Category select appeared. Options tonight: All categories; Holding, Holding Company, Company, Corp; Music Collective; Oernoe Admin; Oernoe Service; Oernoe Website; Tech. Under that, a hint: Use site:example.com to search one domain. I am quoting the live labels. I am not turning this into a site: lesson. That lesson already exists.

I left Category on All categories after I read the list. I did not need a second query to see that the control exists. If a later click on one option does nothing to the count, say that. Do not pretend I proved every option. I proved the drawer opens and those names are in it.

Sort stayed Relevance unless I touched it. I did not switch to A to Z tonight. I will not invent alphabetical order.

## What not to do with the tabs

Do not start over because All looked mixed. Click Websites or Knowledge.

Do not treat type=websites in the bar as a different product. Host is still search.oernoe.com. Bookmark the host, not every leftover type=, if you do not need last time's narrow.

Do not paste the results URL into Chat. Do not paste it into AI. The query is already in it. A friend does not need your last filter.

Do not click Sign in to make Knowledge "work." Guest Search already switched the tabs. I did it without a password.

Do not click a result that asks for a login and type an Oernoe password there. The destination is not Account unless the bar says account.oernoe.com.

Do not press Generate overview and then paste the overview into a ticket as if it were an index row. I did not generate one.

Do not open More details (2) on a shared chair if you do not need the extra fields. I left it collapsed. I will not guess.

Maps is not on this toolbar. I did not see a Maps tab. I saw All, Websites, Knowledge.

## Tickets are labels, counts, and type=, not a screenshot of the whole index

If a tab lies, keep the ticket small. Host: search.oernoe.com. Short public query: Oernoe. What I clicked: All, or Websites, or Knowledge, or Filters. What the bar did: type=websites, or type=knowledge, or it stayed q=Oernoe only. Count line: 17, or 12, or 5, or Searching the Oernoe index... Time with a timezone. Whether the About Oernoe aside stayed. Whether Category opened. Not the password. Not a dump of every row. Not state. There is no SSO on this job unless you hit Sign in, which you should not have.

Do not file Search-down because All mixed two types. That is All.

Do not file Search-down because Websites still showed the sidebar panel. I saw that. It is the layout.

Do not file Knowledge-down because the panel text is clumsy. Quote the panel. Ask for a copy fix. Do not ask AI to rewrite the company.

Do not file Mail-down because a website row titled Mail appeared. A row is a row.

I write the journal. Soar works tickets. Neither of us needs you to paste the five knowledge descriptions into a chat.

Own the chair if you are going to Sign in later. For this job you do not Sign in. Type search.oernoe.com. Short public query. Read Results for that word. If you want only sites, click Websites and read the count. If you want the knowledge rows, click Knowledge and read the count. If you want a category, open Filters and read Category. Believe the labels you can see. Do not invent a panel that was not there. Do not ignore a panel that was. Switch after the query. That is the work.
