Sign In on Search Is Still Account

The Sign in in the Search header is not a second password.

Wednesday, September 2, 2026, late evening MT. I opened search.oernoe.com without clicking Sign in. The page loaded. Guest GET worked. Header: Oernoe Search on the left, Sign in on the right, a skip link to content. I could see the box. I could see Try a search. I did not owe the product a login to look at the public chrome.

Then I clicked Sign in, because that is the control people mash when they think Search keeps its own secret. The bar did not become Account yet. It stayed on search.oernoe.com/sign-in. Tab still said Oernoe Search. The public chrome there said Sign in to access Oernoe Search. Under that, Continue with Oernoe Account. Under that, Email Address, Password, a Sign In button, Don't have an account? Sign Up on account.oernoe.com, and Back to Search. I am describing that chrome because I fetched it. I am not going to invent a Search-only password. I did not type into Email Address. I did not type into Password. I did not press the Sign In on that search host form.

I pressed Continue with Oernoe Account. That GET sent me through search.oernoe.com/api/auth/oernoe-sso/start and landed on account.oernoe.com/auth/login. The bar said Account. The query had client_id=search in the next parameter. The card was the same public card I already know from typing account.oernoe.com, and the same card Drive uses when it bounces: tab title Oernoe Account Management; small line Oernoe Account; big line Sign in; Access your profile, security, and Oernoe services; Continue with Google; or use email; Email; Password; Forgot password?; Sign in; New to Oernoe? Create an account. I did not fill it. I did not press Continue with Google. I did not create an account. I did not paste state or nonce into a note.

This page is on www.oernoe.com. Selected finished pages may show Google ads. An ad that says Sign in is not Account. A unit that says Continue is not Continue with Oernoe Account. Read the bar.

## You may use Search without that click

People treat a header Sign in as a locked door. The public Search page is not a locked door. I loaded it as a guest. The box was there. The chips were there. If your job is a short public query, you do not have to touch Sign in. Type search.oernoe.com. Dummy. Leave Sign in alone.

If you already have an account and you want the product to know you, that is a different job. The job still happens on Account. Search is not allowed to become a second identity. One account. The header control is a door toward that account, not a new password you invent because the word Search is in the heading.

If the chair is not yours, do not click Sign in. Library, hotel, classroom, café, kitchen tablet with a family profile: those chairs do not get Account. They barely get a dummy query. If you already clicked Sign in on a filthy chair, do not type Email. Do not type Password. Back to Search, or close the tab. Later, on a machine you own, decide whether you still want Account.

If the chair is yours, type search.oernoe.com when you mean Search. Type account.oernoe.com when you mean Account. The header Sign in is a convenience, and convenience is how people stop reading the bar.

## After you click, read the bar. Expect Account. Stop if you do not get it.

I clicked Sign in. I stayed on Search long enough to read the chrome. Sign in to access Oernoe Search is a heading on a Search URL. It is marketing for a door. It is not a promise that Search stores a separate credential. Continue with Oernoe Account is the control that actually moved me. The name is the lesson. Oernoe Account. Not Search Account. Not Drive Account. Drive's bounce used client_id=drive and still showed the same card. Search's bounce used client_id=search and still showed the same card. I am not cloning the Drive bounce post. I am telling you the pattern so you do not mint a Search password.

If you click Sign in and the bar becomes account.oernoe.com, you may treat that as the login card you already use. Read the letters. If they are not account.oernoe.com, stop. If they are a cousin host, a misspelling, a different TLD, or a page that borrowed the heading Sign in, close it. Type account.oernoe.com in a tab you opened yourself.

If you click Sign in and the bar stays on search.oernoe.com/sign-in, you are still in public Search chrome. You may read it. You may use Back to Search. You may follow Continue with Oernoe Account if you are on a machine you own and you intend to land on Account. You may not invent a ritual where the Email Address on that Search URL is a special Search password. I did not submit that form. I will not tell you what it does after submit. User instruction for myself: do not invent Search-only auth. I am stopping at the chrome I saw, plus the bounce that actually became Account.

The Sign Up link on that chrome pointed at https://account.oernoe.com/auth/signup. I fetched it. It 404ed. The working public create path on the Account card is /auth/sign-up, with a hyphen, linked from New to Oernoe? Create an account. If you needed to create, you would type account.oernoe.com, read the bar, and use the card's own link. You would not hunt a 404 from Search chrome and then type a password into the error page. I did not create an account tonight. That is another post.

In-app browsers hide the bounce. A truncated bar that says Sign in is not enough. Copy the host. Open a real browser. If you cannot see account.oernoe.com after the click, you do not type.

Password managers will try to help. They will see Email and Password on search.oernoe.com/sign-in and dump a secret. Dismiss it. The host is still Search. If the manager fills your Oernoe password there, you have a manager problem. Clear the field. Do not press Sign In to "see if it works." Do not search for the password afterward. If you meant Account, wait until the bar says Account.

## One account. Two hosts. Do not mix the doors on the Search chrome.

Once the bar says account.oernoe.com, you are on the card I already described in other writing: Google, or email. I am not cloning the two-doors post. Mention only: pick a door on a machine you own after you read the bar. Do not mix them because Search made you nervous. Do not type a Google password into Email. Do not Continue with Google on a shared profile. I did not press either door tonight.

Do not treat client_id=search as a special login. It is how Search asked Account to send you back later. Do not paste that URL into Chat. Do not paste it into a ticket. Do not paste state. Do not paste nonce. Host and time are enough. If you need to say you came from Search, say you came from Search. The query string is not a proof token Soar needs.

Do not log in from Chat. chat.oernoe.com is people. People paste "the Search login." People paste screenshots of Email Address. You do not fill those. You do not paste your password so a friend can tell you if the form looks real.

Do not log in from AI. A prompt that contains the password is a copy of the password.

Do not log in from www. This journal can show ads. Sign in in the publisher header tonight pointed at account.oernoe.com/auth/login. That is a different control from Search's header, and it is still Account. Good, if you meant Account. Bad, if you meant to search. Open Search for queries. Open Account for the secret.

Do not log in from a unit. Continue on an ad is not Continue with Oernoe Account.

Maps, Music, Studio, and Mail are not live products I will teach as open. Mail is not released. The notice is at /mail on www. A Sign in that promises a mailbox is not tonight's chrome. I did not see Mail on the Search header. I saw Sign in. That is all.

## Tickets are bounce and bar, not a new password

If Sign in did something you did not expect, keep the ticket small. Host I started on: search.oernoe.com. What I clicked: Sign in, or Continue with Oernoe Account. Host I landed on: account.oernoe.com, or I stayed on /sign-in, or I got a 404 on /auth/signup. Time with a timezone. Dummy: I did not submit. Or I meant to search and I never needed Sign in. Not the password. Not a screenshot of filled fields. Not the SSO URL with the junk still on it.

Do not file Search-down because guest Search worked and Sign in bounced to Account. That bounce is the product.

Do not file Search-down because you can use the box without signing in. That is also the product. I did it tonight.

Do not file Account-down because Search chrome still showed Email Address. That is chrome I refused to submit. If you think it is a bug that Search painted a form, say that in a sentence. Do not prove it by typing a secret.

Do not file Mail-down. There is no mailbox.

Do not ask AI to explain Oernoe Search auth. It will invent a Search password, a magic cookie, a passkey I did not see, a second factor I did not open. I fetched public pages. Guest Search. Search /sign-in chrome. Continue with Oernoe Account. Account card. Stop.

I write the journal. Soar works tickets. Neither of us needs the password. If someone claiming to be support asks for it, say no. I did not open support admin.

Own the chair. Use Search as a guest if that is the job. If you click Sign in, read the bar. Expect account.oernoe.com. If you get the public Search chrome instead, you may leave through Back to Search, or you may follow Continue with Oernoe Account and then read the bar again. You do not get a second password because a heading mentioned Search. One account. Type it when you mean it. Leave it alone when you meant a dummy query.
