Open a Website Result in a New Tab

A website title is an outbound link. It is not a new query, and it is not Account unless the bar says so.

Wednesday, September 2, 2026, about 10 PM MT. I opened search.oernoe.com as a guest. I did not click Sign in. Header: Skip to content, Oernoe Search, Sign in. Hero: A little curiosity. A world to find. Search websites, people, and ideas. The box. I typed a short public query: Oernoe. I submitted it. The bar went to search.oernoe.com/results?q=Oernoe. Tab title: Search Results - Oernoe Search. I stayed a guest.

This page is on www.oernoe.com. Selected finished pages may show Google ads. An ad that says Oernoe is not the official homepage row. An ad that says Open is not the title link. Read the Search list if you meant to leave /results for a website.

## Stay on /results until you click a title

All stayed current. Relevance stayed selected. I did not open Category. Generate overview stayed unpressed. The job tonight is one website row that opens in a new tab.

The heading said Results for Oernoe. When the index answered, the summary said 17 results in the Oernoe index. Pagination: Previous disabled, Page 1 of 2, Next.

Website rows looked like this: a host, a title that opened in a new tab, a snippet. Knowledge rows looked like this: Oernoe Knowledge, a small type, a name, a description. Those knowledge titles were buttons in the list, not the same outbound the website rows used. I did not click a knowledge button. I clicked a website title.

The first website row tonight: host oernoe.com, title Oernoe, snippet Official Oernoe homepage. The title was an with href https://oernoe.com/, target _blank, rel noopener noreferrer. That is the row I wanted. The instruction said prefer the official homepage or search.oernoe.com. The homepage row was first. I used it.

Other website rows on the same page also used target _blank and rel noopener noreferrer, including search.oernoe.com titled Oernoe Search with snippet Oernoe search engine website. I am naming the pattern. I did not click the other product hosts. A row is a row. New tab is how website titles leave Search. It is not a reason to log into those products.

On the right, About Oernoe. I did not click More details (2). Related searches would stay on search.oernoe.com/results with a new q=. That is still Search. A website title is not a related search.

## I clicked the official homepage title. I left /results in that new tab.

I clicked Oernoe on the oernoe.com row. The click did something visible. A new tab opened. The original tab did not navigate. I checked it. It was still https://search.oernoe.com/results?q=Oernoe. Tab title on the original: Search Results - Oernoe Search. Count still 17. All still current. I had left /results only in the new tab. That is the whole point of target _blank. If your click replaces the results tab, say so in a ticket. Do not say Search-down. Quote whether a second tab appeared.

I read the new bar. I did not guess. Exact destination after the click: the new tab first aimed at https://oernoe.com/, then the bar became https://www.oernoe.com/. Path /. Host www.oernoe.com. Tab title: Oernoe - Independent Search, Guides, and Journal. That is not search.oernoe.com/results. That is not account.oernoe.com. Login is account.oernoe.com. This hostname is the publisher. I did not click Sign in on www. I did not submit Account. Sign in in that header is not the results list. If I had followed it I would have been doing a different job. I did not. Guest publisher is enough. I read the bar. It was not Account. I am saying that in the title of this section because people mix www, search, and account into one "Oernoe." They are not one host.

I did not type a password into the publisher. There was no password field on the hero I read. If a unit on www looks like a login, it is not the Search box you left. Do not paste Search credentials into www. Do not paste www credentials into Search. I used none.

I stayed on /. I read the public journal teasers and the services directory as page text. I needed the bar and the header, not a product tour.

Google ads are possible on selected finished pages on this hostname. I am not claiming www is ad-free. I am not inventing a filled unit I did not measure. If a unit covers the heading, ticket www, not Search. You already left Search.

## I closed the new tab. I came back to results.

I closed https://www.oernoe.com/. I did not close the original results tab first. After the close I was looking at search.oernoe.com/results?q=Oernoe again. Tab title: Search Results - Oernoe Search. Heading: Results for Oernoe. Count: 17 results in the Oernoe index. Generate overview still unpressed. Filters still closed. The official homepage row was still first. Closing www did not delete the query. Closing www did not Sign me in. The results tab had been sitting there the whole time.

If you close the results tab by mistake and only keep www, you are not "still searching." You are on the publisher. Type search.oernoe.com again if you need the list. Do not use the publisher Find as if it were q=.

If you click the search.oernoe.com website row instead of the homepage row, you also leave /results in a new tab, but the destination is the Search home, not www. I read that home in this same session so I would not mix them: https://search.oernoe.com/, title Oernoe Search, header Skip to content, Oernoe Search, Sign in, hero A little curiosity. A world to find. Path /. That is Search home, not /results, not Account. Prefer the official homepage if you want the publisher. Prefer the Search row if you want the empty box. Neither is account.oernoe.com unless you follow Sign in.

## What the new tab is not

It is not Account unless the bar is account.oernoe.com. www.oernoe.com is the publisher. search.oernoe.com/ is Search home. /results is the list you left. /sign-in on Search is the header control I did not use.

It is not a second Search query. q= did not travel into www. The publisher did not print Results for Oernoe as the hero. If you need the 17, go back to the results tab.

It is not Filters. I did not add category=.

It is not Next. I did not page. I clicked a title.

It is not Generate overview. I did not summarize the list and then click. I clicked a row.

It is not knowledge More details. I did not expand the aside.

It is not a login wall on the homepage I opened. If a different website row asks for a login, that is a different post. Do not type an Oernoe password into a destination because Search listed it. Read the bar. If it is not account.oernoe.com, it is not our Account card. Stop.

Maps is not on the Search toolbar I left. I did not see a Maps tab.

## What not to do with target _blank

Do not click every hostname on the list to see if they all new-tab. One official homepage is the job.

Do not paste a password into the new tab to make the publisher "match" Search. Guest Search already showed you the title. Guest www already showed you the publisher chrome.

Do not treat rel noopener as a bug. I am quoting the attribute. It is how the title is marked. Ticket if a title does not open a new tab and instead wipes /results. That is a different failure than the one I saw.

Do not file Search-down because the new bar says www.oernoe.com instead of oernoe.com. I clicked https://oernoe.com/ and landed on https://www.oernoe.com/. Quote both. That is a redirect, not a lost query.

Do not file Search-down because the original tab stayed on /results. That is the design I used. Come back by closing the new tab or by clicking the results tab. I closed the new tab.

Do not file Account-down because Sign in exists on www. Sign in exists on Search too. I did not submit either.

Do not paste the www hero into Chat and ask it to rebuild Search. Different host. Different job.

If the chair is not yours, a short public query is the whole job. You may still open one public homepage in a new tab. You may not Sign in. Close that tab when you leave. Leave the results tab or close both. Do not leave Account sitting in a background tab because you followed Sign in by habit.

## Tickets are host before, host after, and whether /results survived

Keep the ticket small. Host before: search.oernoe.com. Path before: /results. Query: q=Oernoe. What I clicked: title Oernoe on the oernoe.com row, Official Oernoe homepage. If it is not Account, do not treat it as Account. Close the tab. Come back to results. Believe the original list is still there.

I did not measure user counts. I did not claim Search or www is ad-free. Ads may show on selected finished www pages. I used guest Search. I clicked one homepage title. A new tab opened. The bar was www.oernoe.com, not Account. I closed it. /results was waiting. That is the work.
