I am writing this as a person who has watched people "move to Oernoe" by copying a family Chrome profile onto a shiny machine and then wondering why a sibling's session came along. This page is the journal on www.oernoe.com. This host can show ads. Search is a different host. Mail does not exist to migrate. I will not invent an export-everything button.
## What you are not moving
mail.oernoe.com does not resolve. There is no inbox to pack. Older journal leftovers that still sound like a summer email launch are leftovers. If an old bookmark says Mail, delete it on both machines. Do not waste a Saturday looking for a forwarding wizard that was never a product.
There is also no single "export Oernoe" control I will describe from this desk. Some how-to pages talk like a dashboard can dump your life into a zip. I am not going to narrate a button I cannot stand behind as the way you move house. If you find an export on account.oernoe.com, use it as a copy of whatever it actually contains. Read the file. A password manager is the ordinary way. Do not photograph the new password into the camera roll that syncs to the old phone.
If the old laptop used a password several people knew, this is the day you stop. Change it from a machine you own. Then sign in on the new laptop. Then sign out everywhere you can find, starting with the old one. I will not invent a "sign out all sessions" label if your screen does not have one. If you see one, use it. If you do not, you still change the password and you still visit the old machine.
Do not type the new password on the old machine "just to test." Testing is how the old machine keeps a copy.
Staff will not ask for the password in a ticket, a chat, or a comment. A move is a phishing season. Read the host. account.oernoe.com is account. A page that is almost that is not.
## Do not import a communal browser profile

A family Chrome. A school Chromebook backup. A "just copy my AppData" zip from a spouse. Cookies, saved passwords, sessions, the Health tab you forgot, the Drive download sitting in the profile. The new laptop is then the old household with a nicer keyboard.
Make a browser profile that is only yours. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. I do not care which. I care that the shortcut on the dock is not "the family one." If you already imported, stop using that profile for Oernoe. Make a fresh one. Sign in there. Leave the imported mess for shopping sites if you must. Do not pretend a communal cookie jar became private because the laptop is new.
Extensions come along with imports. An extension that can read every page can read a password field. Install few. Prefer ones you can name. Remove anything you do not remember choosing.
Password managers that auto-fill on a shared old profile will auto-fill on the new one if you clone it. That is the bug. Fill on a profile that is yours. Not on a library leftover you dressed up as a migration.
## Bookmarks named by host
I already wrote a whole post about this. The short version for a new machine: do not create one bookmark called Oernoe that points at www. You will search the brochure for a year.

On a phone, home-screen icons are bookmarks with worse names. The phone is not the laptop. Do not treat a phone shortcut dump as a desktop profile.

Before you put a thesis, a tax PDF, or a client folder on the new machine, make a dummy.
On docs.oernoe.com, a page titled something dull like dummy-laptop-829. One sentence. Reload. Open it on the new laptop. If it is there, you learned the host works. If it is not, you learned that before the thesis vanished.
On drive.oernoe.com you may bounce through account.oernoe.com. That bounce is login, not an outage. I already wrote that. Finish the bounce or stop. Then upload a one-line text file you can lose. Download it back. If download works, you have a path. If it does not, ticket the host and the dummy title. Do not attach the real folder listing with people's names.
Do not make Drive the only copy of a paper you would pay to recover. The new laptop's Downloads folder is also a copy. The old laptop's Downloads folder is a leftover. Delete the leftover if the old machine is going to a cousin.
Health is not a dummy playground. If you needed a small note, wait until the password is unique and the machine is yours. Do not open Health to "see if the move worked."
Studio is a workbench for images and video, not an archive. Dummy crop first if you open it at all. Do not upload the only copy of a wedding file to test a new laptop.

Open it. Sign out of the hosts you used. Search, Docs, Drive, Chat, AI, Health, Music, Account. Closing the lid is not sign-out. Closing a tab is not sign-out. Open the host once more and see whether it still knows your name. If it does, you failed. Try again. If it still knows you, ticket: host, "still signed in after sign-out," old laptop, no screenshot of files.
If the old machine is a family machine that will stay in the kitchen, treat it as shared from now on. Unique password. No Health. No remembered session. The new laptop does not magically empty the kitchen iPad.
If you sold the old machine, sign out before you wipe. Then wipe. Then assume a determined buyer might still find a download you left on the desktop. Do not leave a PDF named with your last name.
If you cannot get the old machine back — stolen, dead, donated already — change the password from the new one anyway. Look at account sessions if the page shows them. I will not invent a list of cities. If you see a device you do not own, say so in a small ticket with times. Do not paste a password into that ticket.
## What a first afternoon on the new laptop looks like
Charge it. Update the browser. Make the profile that is yours.
Type account.oernoe.com yourself, or use the bookmark you just made. Sign in with the unique password.
Open Search and look something boring up. You are on search.oernoe.com. Good.
Open Status if a tab later spins. Open Support only if you have three lines.
Make the dummy in Docs. Make the dummy in Drive. Stop.
Do not open seven tiles to feel oriented. Orientation is the bar.
Do not restore a Time Machine of the old communal home folder "for convenience." Convenience is how a partner's saved password lands in your dock.

Host. Time and timezone. "New laptop, dummy-laptop-829 missing after reload." Browser and whether the profile is new. Tracker or Status if you looked.
Not a zip of your Drive. Not a screenshot of Health. Not the old password and the new password "so you can check." Not a novel about the store that sold you the machine.
