Encryption in transit appears in How Oernoe Search works under Your Privacy During Search. The guide’s claim is specific: all communication between your device and Search servers is encrypted using HTTPS, so your search queries cannot be intercepted by your ISP, network administrator, or anyone else monitoring your connection. That is a transport-security fact. It is not a claim that publisher pages on www.oernoe.com never show advertising units. It is not a claim that Google never processes anything on eligible www pages. It is not a claim that non-personalized ads are somehow not ads. Editors keep separating those sentences because readers often hear “encrypted” and upgrade it into “the whole brand never touches advertising systems.” HTTPS does not buy that upgrade.

Search privacy during a query has several published parts that must stay distinct. HTTPS covers the path between your device and Search. No profiling means Search does not create a profile of your interests based on searches; each search is processed independently without connection to previous searches as an advertising profile. Data retention language says queries are not used to build an advertising profile; technical and security logs may exist as the Privacy Policy describes; those logs are not a license to sell query history to advertisers. No behavioral tracking, in the guide’s sense, means Oernoe Search does not use click or dwell signals to build an advertising profile of you, while this publisher page may still show Google ads that Google measures under its own policies. Search queries stay with Search: Oernoe does not sell Search queries or account data to advertisers; the publisher page is separate and may load AdSense. Encryption is one bullet in that list. It does not swallow the other bullets.

The publisher split is written for a reason. www.oernoe.com is the public publisher site. Selected finished pages may load Google AdSense. Search-and-ads and the Cookie Policy list the eligible set: How-To; finished guides such as How Search works, Search queries and Google ads, Using an account, What we publish, hostname guides, Corrections, and how a privacy request is handled; rewritten journal URLs under /blog; and database journal articles that still pass originality and length checks. Ads stay off Home, About, Team, Contact, editorial standards, the guides index, legal pages, login, signup, password reset, the journal listing, error pages, and the apps: Search, Health, Chat, AI, Docs, Drive, and Tracker. When ads load, they are requested as non-personalized by default. Google may still process page context, cookies or similar identifiers, IP address, browser and device data, and ad interaction data. ads.txt at the site root names publisher ID pub-9477175344230263. Pages carry a google-adsense-account meta tag so Google can verify the site. None of that is canceled by HTTPS on search.oernoe.com.

Confusing encryption with a network-wide advertising-free claim is how older homepage copy got into trouble. Search-and-ads is blunt: people mash the search engine and the publisher website into one privacy sentence; that mash is how you get a homepage that says zero tracking while the same company is applying for AdSense; we are not doing that anymore. The product promise for Search is that query history is not used to build an advertising profile and account or search data is not sold to advertisers for their own marketing. Search still sees ordinary request data needed to return a page: the query, the fact that a browser asked, technical logs for abuse and uptime. That is not the same as an ad graph. HTTPS protects the query on the wire. It does not redefine technical logs as nonexistent. It does not redefine publisher AdSense as nonexistent. It does not redefine Google’s partner-site processing as nonexistent.

What encryption does not mean deserves a plain list. It does not mean an ISP can never see that you connected to a host; it means they should not read the query contents in transit under ordinary HTTPS assumptions. It does not mean a destination site you click learns nothing; click-through uses a generic referrer that does not reveal the query, which is a separate published behavior. It does not mean Google never sees advertising data on an eligible www article you later open. It does not mean non-personalized ads stop being ads. It does not mean Europe gets a TCF consent management platform; the cookie bar is a notice, dismissing OK only hides the bar, and Ads Settings plus industry opt-outs remain outside Oernoe’s own systems for advertising choices. It does not mean Search queries are sold as a file—they are not—and encryption is not the sentence that carries that sale refusal; the sale refusal is its own promise.

Ranking factors sit nearby and must not be rewritten as encryption poetry. Content relevance, authority and expertise, link analysis, page freshness for news and current topics, aggregated anonymized satisfaction, mobile-friendliness, and page speed are about documents and aggregate signals. They are not about decrypting your session into a person file. The guide’s exclusion list still applies: search history, location, device type, age, interests, and other personal data are not used as a ranking profile. HTTPS does not create those exclusions; the product design does. HTTPS also does not replace them. A secure pipe to a ranking system that refused profiles is the point. A secure pipe to a ranking system that secretly built profiles would still be a privacy failure. Editors should not treat padlock icons as a substitute for the factor list.

Personalization without tracking remains explicit control when logged in. Save searches, bookmark sources, configure language and region, create filters. Delete them when you want. Preferences are not shared with advertisers and are not an automatic interest profile. Encryption protects the account session on the wire the same way it protects a query. It does not turn preferences into ads inventory, and it does not erase the need to disclose ads on the publisher hostname.

Funding language has to stay honest next to encryption language. Account creation is free. Some products have optional paid tiers, labeled in product. Selected finished pages on www may show Google ads. Oernoe does not sell account or search data, and does not sell journal articles, links, or reviews. Ads do not appear on Search, Health, Chat, AI, Docs, Drive, Tracker, or Account. They do not appear on Home, About, legal pages, or the journal listing. Saying “we encrypt Search” and then implying the whole network is free of advertising systems would recreate the old overclaim. Saying “we encrypt Search” and then explaining where AdSense can appear is the honest pair.

Placement rules on the publisher reinforce the same honesty. Ads are not the menu. Ads are not download buttons. Ads are not mixed into login fields. There are no pop-ups that cover the article before you can read it. The cookie bar links Privacy, Cookies, Ads Settings, and OK. If you move from an eligible article to About or Home, leftover Auto ads are supposed to disappear as a client-side guard; that is not a promise Google never requested a unit on the previous page. The honest check remains view-source: eligible How-To or guide should include the AdSense client; About should not. Encryption on Search does not change what view-source shows on www.

From the editor’s side, the risk is letting security vocabulary do advertising work. Soft copy that says “HTTPS means private so ads don’t count” is false. Soft copy that says “encrypted search means Google never processes your visit to a guide” is false when AdSense is present. Soft copy that says “non-personalized plus HTTPS equals no third party” is false. Soft copy that says the site is free of ads is forbidden for a reason: it is not true on eligible pages. The correct voice is plainer: Search uses HTTPS so network observers cannot intercept queries; Search refuses advertising profiles from query history; www may still load Google ads on finished documents; those ads are requested as non-personalized and still involve Google processing under Google’s policies; controls for ads live in Ads Settings and industry opt-outs; Oernoe’s cookie bar is notice, not a CMP. Crawling and indexing remain ordinary Search chores under privacy-first rules: public content, robots.txt, rate limits, no harvest of people into advertising lists during crawl. HTTPS is about the user’s connection to Search, not about the crawler’s visit to a third-party page. Mixing those topics usually produces fog. Keep them separate: transport security for the querier; crawl ethics for the index; ad disclosure for the publisher.

Listings people submit for people and companies remain an index of the public web and of chosen submissions with an approval step. Encryption does not make a listing private Health data. It does not open Chat threads. It does not turn Drive files into ranking fuel. Hostname jobs stay boring on purpose.

Common questions still arrive as upgrades of HTTPS. If Search is encrypted, why does a guide show an ad? Because the guide is on the publisher hostname under the disclosed eligible set, not because encryption failed. If Search is encrypted, did Google read my query from Search? Encryption addresses network interception; the Search promise separately refuses building advertising profiles from queries and refuses selling account or search data. Google’s processing of advertising data happens when AdSense runs on eligible www pages, under Google’s policies, not as a rewrite of the Search query pipe. If I use Ads Settings, am I changing Oernoe Search encryption? No. Ads Settings is an advertising control outside Oernoe systems. If I dismiss the cookie bar, did I consent to ads because the connection was HTTPS? No. Dismissing OK only hides the bar; it is not consent.

That is the editorial job: defend the real HTTPS claim, refuse the upgrade into a network-wide advertising-free slogan, and leave campaign warmth outside the privacy chapter.
