Apologies for the Delay: Updates on Oernoe Drive, Studio, Mail & Music

We're sorry for the delay on Oernoe Drive, Oernoe Studio, Oernmail and Oernoe Music. Here's why we had to push release dates and when you can expect each service, plus details on joining the Music waitlist.

Over the last few months we’ve been hard at work bringing several new services to life. As many of you know, **Oernoe Search** and **Oernoe Studio** already power millions of queries and pieces of content while protecting your privacy. Behind the scenes we’ve also been building **Oernoe Drive**, **Oernmail**, and **Oernoe Music**, our privacy‑first storage, email and streaming platforms.

With such a small team, however, we’ve been spread thin. Between integrating new features, fixing bugs and making sure every service meets our strict security standards, we simply didn’t find time to share regular updates. For that we’re sorry. We value transparency just as much as privacy, and you deserve to know where things stand.

## Why the delay?

Creating privacy‑first services isn’t as simple as bolting encryption onto existing software. Each product in the Oernoe ecosystem is built from the ground up to protect your data, so there are no shortcuts. Our engineers work across Search, Studio and the upcoming services to ensure a single sign‑on experience without leaking personal information between products.

Adding to the challenge, the same developers who build the products also handle support, infrastructure and design. Small bugs can have an outsized impact when there are only a handful of people to address them. Over the spring we hit several roadblocks, particularly with our document editor and media pipeline, that required more time to resolve than planned. Rather than release something half‑baked, we chose to delay the public roll‑out so that you get a polished product from day one.

## Updated release timeline

Here’s where each service stands today and when you can expect to try it:

### Oernoe Drive

* **Beta available now** – A limited beta of Oernoe Drive quietly went live a few months ago. Early testers have been using it to back up files, share folders and sync documents across devices. If you are part of that group, thank you for your patience and feedback.
* **Full release end of August** – We’re adding the finishing touches to our **Documents**, **Slides** and **Sheets** editors. Once ready, you’ll be able to create and collaborate on rich text documents, presentations and spreadsheets directly in your browser. All files are encrypted on your device and only you hold the keys. We expect this suite of editing tools to roll out to all users by the end of August.

### Oernoe Studio

* **Public launch late July / early August** – Oernoe Studio has been available in preview for writing blog posts and articles. We’re now integrating deeper collaboration features, a smoother publishing flow and richer media support. Our goal is to release these improvements to everyone around late July; if final bug‑fixing takes a little longer, it may slip into the first week of August. Once live, Studio will allow you to draft posts, collaborate with others in real time and publish directly to your Oernoe blog without leaving the editor.

### Oernmail

* **Mid‑October release** – Our privacy‑first email service, built on **oernmail.com**, is taking longer than expected. We want Oernmail to support connecting existing accounts and to include robust spam protection without scanning your messages for advertising. To achieve this, we’ve had to rewrite parts of our mail parser and authentication flow. We now expect the first public beta of Oernmail in mid‑October. You’ll be able to send and receive mail, manage multiple addresses and receive notifications from other Oernoe services in one unified inbox.

### Oernoe Music

* **Waitlist open now** – Oernoe Music is a community‑driven streaming service where independent artists sit alongside your favourite labels. It will let you upload your own tracks, create playlists and follow other users. Our **Leaderboard** will surface trending songs, and the **Artist Dashboard** will give creators insight into plays and followers【642474550129570†screenshot】.
* **Limited beta in mid‑July** – Because the music platform touches sensitive licensing and streaming infrastructure, we’re rolling it out slowly. A small group of testers will get access around the middle of July. If you’d like to be one of the first to try it, please [join the waitlist](https://music.oernoe.com/waitlist) using your Oernoe account. We’ll admit users in batches and value your feedback on sound quality, recommendations and the upload process.

## What to expect when the services launch

All of these upcoming services share the same principles that define Oernoe today:

- **Privacy first** – Your files, emails and playlists are encrypted end to end. We never sell or share your data, and ads (where present) are contextual rather than behavioural【80874528911601†screenshot】.
- **Unified account** – As with Search and Studio, you won’t need to juggle multiple usernames and passwords. One Oernoe ID grants access to everything and you can manage services from a single dashboard【451971048894872†screenshot】.
- **No hidden costs** – Core features remain free, with optional premium upgrades if you need more storage or advanced functionality. We fund development through ethical advertising and small paid tiers, not by selling your personal information.

We’re also committed to releasing each service as a **beta** first. That means you may encounter rough edges or missing features initially. We encourage you to send feedback through the in‑app channels so we can prioritise fixes and improvements. Your insights help us refine our products and ensure they meet your needs.

## Thank you for your patience

We know it’s frustrating when release dates slip, especially when you’re excited about new tools. We’re a small team with big ambitions, and sometimes that means progress happens more slowly than we’d like. We apologise for the lack of communication around these delays and promise to be more transparent going forward.

In the meantime, you can continue to enjoy Oernoe Search and Oernoe Studio while we put the final touches on Drive, Mail and Music. If you want early access to Oernoe Music, don’t forget to sign up for the waitlist. We can’t wait to share these new experiences with you later this summer and into the autumn.
